    • ALEKS provides up to six months of online tutorials to improve your knowledge and two opportunities to retake the test to improve your placement.
    • You can complete the tutorials and test from any computer in any location.
    • ALEKS is well worth the nominal cost if the end result is a higher math placement.
    • New students are encouraged to plan ahead to allow adequate time to complete the ALEKS process in order to have final ALEKS test scores prior to their registered Rocket Launch Orientation dates.

Chemistry Placement

  • All Arts and Letters MajorsNo Chemistry placement test is required (unless you are a Pre-Med/Vet/Dent student and have taken high school chemistry).
  • The purpose of the ALEKS Chemistry Placement test is twofold. It will determine the best chemistry course placement for you, and, if you place into General Chemistry I, it will permit you to review topics before you actually begin the class so you can start strong.
  • If you score 50% or higher on your Initial Assessment, you can register for CHEM 1230 without restrictions. If you score less than 50%, ALEKS will place you in the Learning Mode which will allow you to master additional topics. Once you reach 50% or better, you can register for CHEM 1230 as long as you also take CHEM 1200, Problem-Solving in General Chemistry.
  • You are urged to take the Initial Assessment seriously to allow the process to work best for you. After you achieve 50%, you are strongly encouraged to continue in the Learning Mode to better prepare you for success early in your General Chemistry course.
  • Visit the ALEKS website to register for your test.
