BLX Program: Belonging Excellence Program

Belonging Excellence Program Registration

The Belonging Excellence Program (BLX) is designed to help  students succeed in their academic, cultural, and social transition from high school to college. Students participate in five days (Sunday, Aug. 18 to Thursday, Aug. 22) of transitional programming that includes educational  workshops, leadership training, and peer mentorship and additional programming throughout the fall and spring semester to foster excellence within the first year of college.

MORE Institute students

BLX participants will:

  • Feel connected to the University of Toledo
  • Identify opportunities for campus and community engagement
  • Learn how to use campus academic and support resources

BLX is open to residential and commuter students.

Students will move into campus housing on Sunday, Aug. 18, and spend five days receiving enhanced mini-sessions on Math and English, and STEM academic preparation, campus involvement workshops, leadership training, and peer support with a particular emphasis on fostering a sense of belonging and affirming students’ strengths.

We encourage students to continue their experience from the summer into the fall and spring in our Belonging Excellence (BLX) Living Learning Community in Parks Tower Residence Hall, a specialized community of students who live and learn together in a dedicated area of a residence hall.

This LLC helps new students understand the academic and social expectations of campus life and serve as an incubator for community engagement and social change. Students will have the opportunity to engage with various current issues through lectures, films, peer dialogue, writing activities, and off-campus activities. Ultimately, participants will learn how to use their personal experiences, interests, and leadership skills to transform their communities.
