HEALTH SCIENCE CAMPUS TECH PARK SOLAR MONTHLY UPDATE
The Student Funded HSC Tech Park Solar has produced 1,393,132 kWh for $87,528 of
revenue since November 2020. 65% of the revenue ($56,893) funds any HSC Tech Park
Solar maintenance or new energy reduction projects. This field also has saved approximately
$42,936 in kW demand savings over the same time for a total revenue/savings of $130,464.
HISTORY OF THE TECH PARK SOLAR
A 2018 senior design team made up of UToledo students studying mechanical, industrial
and manufacturing engineering worked with UToledo Facilities and Construction to identify
the site and prepared construction engineering drawings with assistance from JDRM
Engineering. The UToledo Student Green Fund approved spending $350,000 to cover the
costs to install the array. The construction contract was awarded to Solscient Energy
LLC after a public bidding of the project. We are thankful for the significant First
Solar Series 5 panel donation that initiated this progressive project.
